Valencia CF win the first women's trophy at LALIGA x Bloomsbury Schools Tournament
Held in North London, to inspire young players to continue playing soccer and with the presence of Vicky Losada
Valencia CF, through the VCF Foundation, has participated along with 11 other Spanish clubs in the first women's football tournament LALIGA x Bloomsbury Schools Tournament, held in North London and attended by former Spanish international and current captain of Brighton & Hove Albion, Vicky Losada.
The team wearing the Blanquinegros colors was proclaimed champion of a tournament in which all the participating girls won.
Vicky watched this tournament at Market Road Football Pitches in North London to celebrate the second year of LALIGA and the LALIGA FOUNDATION's partnership with London-based soccer charity Bloomsbury Football, whose joint aim is to provide young people with community access to soccer.
Bloomsbury currently works with over 5,000 young people in the capital each week and is looking to expand to 20,000 by 2028, as well as reaching an ambitious target of 50:50 attendance of boys and girls.
Bloomsbury and LALIGA, with the collaboration of the LALIGA FOUNDATION, believe that soccer, like all team sports, is a fundamental way to support physical and mental wellbeing.
However, they also understand that the gender gap in such activities persists in the UK. According to a recent survey, just under a quarter of women have ever played in a soccer team (either as a girl, as an adult or both) and this figure is less than half the equivalent number for men (60.6%).
