Vázquez: "The important thing is that we went through"

Valencia CF's matchwinner, Jesús Vázquez, spoke to VCF Media after grabbing an extra-time goal against FC Cartagena in the Copa del Rey. 

The result

“I’m very happy with my goal, but there are things we need to do more to avoid suffering so much and to be more at ease in games. We had a tough start, they scored, and it was hard for us to push forward. Then we had quite a few chances, but we didn’t score from them, and as the minutes ticked by, it got harder and harder.”.

The second half

“We changed things, and that’s the path we should follow. I’m very happy to have helped the team with the goal and, above all, that we went through to the next round, which is the most important thing.”

Self criticism

“This can’t happen to us again, because we always have to give our best and we have to learn so that we don’t repeat mistakes.”
