Changes in format for the 2020 Copa del Rey
Valencia CF begin their defence of the Copa del Rey against Segunda B side UD Logroñés on Wednesday night, as the competition undergoes an overhaul for 2020. A total of 116 clubs will participate in this year's tournament, with the four entrants into the Spanish Supercopa joining at the Round of 32 stage.
Single-game ties until the semifinals
One of the big changes from past years is the format of the fixtures, which will be played over a single leg at the home of the team in the lower division.
Should two teams from the same division be drawn against one another, the side picked first in the draw will play at home. The Spanish Supercopa participants will enter the competition at the Round of 32 stage.
