Club legend Roberto Gil passes away
Club legend Roberto Gil has passed away, at the age of 84.

A dedicated servant of Valencia CF, he came up through the ranks of the youth setup and debuted with the first team in 1959, soon becoming captain and going on to lead the team to 2 Fairs Cups and 1 Copa del Rey. He hung up his boots in 1971, after eleven seasons and more than 300 official matches, and subsequently coached Valencia CF for two spells, as well as being Technical Secretary in the 1990s.

Valencia CF will pay tribute to him during the Trofeu Taronja this Saturday at Mestalla. A minute's silence will be observed in his memory and our players will also wear black armbands during the match against Atalanta BC.

In addition, the VCF Academy will also remember Roberto Gil. VCF Mestalla and VCF Juvenil A will observe a minute's silence in his memory in the matches they will play this Friday: Against CD Utrillas and the COTIF semifinals against Uruguay, respectively.
