Gayà: "We leave here very hurt"
After the final whistle at Ipurua, José Luis Gayà talked about a frustrating defeat to Eibar in LaLiga.
Analysing the defeat
"We knew what it meant to come to this ground and we knew that whoever went ahead would have the advantage. We conceded a goal that it is impossible for us to concede if we want to get into the Champions League; a low ball on a corner. They got ahead and in these games it is very difficult to turn the scoreline around. Eibar are a side who fight and run a lot, and it's very difficult. We leave here very hurt, because that was an opportunity and we didn't take it."
The strategy
"They play very high up, but this is a very narrow pitch. It's hard to play on the wings because it's so small. The idea was to play behind the backs of the defence, because they play a very high line. We weren't precise in our final ball, because we had very good chances. In the second half it was a little more scrappy and there was practically no good football. I don't know why so little time was added on."
What the team are lacking
"Our form away from home is the problem. At Mestalla we've had a very good season, with great games and great results, but on the road we have a very bad run. If we want to be in the Champions League, we also have to win away games -and we aren't doing that."
