Valencia CF welcome the women’s K4-500 world champions

In his first season at Valencia CF, Maxi Gómez was the club's top goalscorer in LaLiga. The striker found the net on 10 occasions in the Spanish top flight, and was one of his country's most prolific representatives overseas: In Europe's 'Big Five' leagues (Spain, Italy, Germany, England and France), only Luis Suárez (16) scored more times domestic league competition.
The 23-year-old still has room for improvement and growth, but has started his time at Valencia CF well. He has managed to 'click' with his teammates and has attracted plenty of plaudits for his play on the pitch, despite having had to overcome injuries that hindered him in 2019/20.

Gómez spent the campaign adapting and gaining new experiences. He played in the Champions League for the first time, realising a childhood dream, and he has won over the fans at Mestalla. He is already amongst the most successful Uruguayan players of all time for the club.

Through Valencia CF's 101-year history, 11 Uruguayans have turned out for them. In the space of just one year, Gómez became the fourth highest single-season scorer of them. His 10 LaLiga goals put him just one behind Wilmar Cabrera (11 LaLiga goals in 1984/85 and 1985/86), five behind Héctor Núñez (15 in 1960/61) and six off Fernando Morena (16 in 1980/81).
