Match Preview: FCB Femení vs VCF Femenino
VCF Femenino will travel to Barcelona on Sunday to take on the league leaders FCB Femení at 5:30 pm kick-off time (local time) at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on matchday 22 of Primera Iberdrola.
The Valencians are sitting in 9th place on 25 points from 25 matchdays and they are coming off the back of a 1-2 home loss to Sevilla FC at the Antonio Puchdades.
The Catalans maintain a perfect record having won all 18 matchdays so far this season. They are coming off the back of a 0-3 win over CD Santa Teresa at the weekend. The reverse fixture saw VCF Femenino suffer a heavy home loss by a 0-7 scoreline.
VCF Femenino defender, Esther Martín Pozuelo, caught up with VCF Media to preview the game against FCB Femení:
“We’re coming into it with plenty of motivation. We’re all aware that it’s going to be a difficult game against really tough opposition and their results speak for themselves but, beyond that we’re going to focus on ourselves.
We’re raring to go there and compete. We’re having a really good week of training so we’re hoping to come away with a positive result from there. We know that it’s going to be really difficult besides, I made my debut there last year and I know how difficult it is to play there.
We going to go there with the motivation to spring the surprise as they only side to have made things difficult for them and we’re really looking forward to it. They’ve got a really good squad to compete in Europe but it’s a challenge for a young side like ours so we’re really motivated to put a shift in against a great opposition.
They have weaknesses like any side, we know they like to keep possession so we are going to make it difficult for them without it. We’re going to put pressure on them, try to pounce on any let-off they might have at the back and hopefully take the chances we may have”.
