Match Report: VCF Mestalla edge out Atzeneta UE in new season run-up friendly (2-1)

VCF Mestalla played their fifth preseason match up against Spanish third tier newly promoted team which share group with VCF Mestalla and they will meet again on the opening day of the competition on the 18th of October.  

The opening quarter of an hour saw a finely balance. A Hugo Gozálbez promising foray resulted in a spot-kick for Valencia CF Mestalla. Pablo Gozálbez could not convert but Jordi Escobar was alert to turn it in on the follow-up which was heavily protested by the opposition.

Jordi Escobar came close to putting Valencia CF Mestalla two goals to the good following a great delivery from the wing and a Charly crucial stop to a Javi García effort from point blank range to keep the scoreline at 1-0. The first half finished 1-0 for Valencia CF Mestalla.

Óscar Fernandez kept all outfield players on the pitch as Charly made way for Andrés in goal. Valencia CF Mestalla doubled their advantage through Pablo Gozálbez who capitalised on a backpass two put Valencia CF Mestalla two goals to the good slotting it past Lucas Anaker in style.

After the goal Óscar Fernández made a wholesale changes to the line-up as they kept in the same vein. Carlos González struck the post following a fine link-up play between Fran Pérez down the right wing.   

Christián pulled one back for Atzeneta UE with a sliced effort which caught out Andrés Céspedes. The goal buoyed the opposition and VCF Mestalla made to work defensively to come away with the win.
