Match Report: VCF Mestalla held to frustrating away draw to Villarreal B (1-1)

VCF Mestallla visited regional opposition Villarreal B at the Miralcamp training ground on matchday 6 group III B of Segunda B that ended in a 1-1 draw. VCF Mestalla went in front through a José David wonderful finish but drew after conceding an unfortunate Facu own goal.
The b team introduced some changes to their lineup regarding past fixtures. Kevin Sibille returned to the starting XI with the likes of Koba, David Ruíz or Emana also fielded with some tactical changes to their shape.
Both sides had a tentative start to the game feeling each other out in the opening stages with the hosts trying to dominte possession against an untroubled Valencia CF Mestalla side.
The hosts had their first shot on goal through Anh who got his cross-shot away coming in off the right wing. Valencia CF Mestalla replied at the other end with two cross-cum shots from Koba and Emana.
Valencia CF Mestalla grew in the game as the first half progressed. Valencia CF Mestalla were dictating play and enjoying more ball possession and they came close to scoring with the last kick of the half after winning the ball back which saw Koba play Emana onside but his shot blazed over the crossbar on the stroke of half-time.
The first half finished goalless with nothing to separate the sides at half-time.
Both sides made half-time attacking substitutions. Pablo Gozálbez replaced Facu García as the same script followed in the second half.
VCF Mestalla opened the scoring through a brilliant José David finish following a well worked move which was started off by Unai who picked out Jesús Vázquez’s bursting run down the left wing and sent it into his path, he worked his way to the penalty arc to set-up José David who finished it off in some style lifting it over Filip to give VCF Mestalla the lead.
Valencia CF Mestalla tried to withstand the hosts’ waves of attacks after the goal. Alas, an unfortunate twist to the tale happened with two minutes from normal time remaining when a crossfield ball hit Facu and went into the back of the net.
The game finished in a frustrating 1-1 regional derby draw away to Villarreal CF B.
