Need to Know: Chelsea FC vs. Valencia CF
Two Valencia CF goalscorers at Stamford Bridge
Tuesday night's game will be the fourth meeting between Valencia CF and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The club's previous record is two draws and a loss on their last visit in 2011. So far, only two players have scored against Chelsea in London for VCF: David Silva and Roberto Soldado. The current squad will be pursuing more goals and a first victory over the Blues in the English capital.
No home wins for Chelsea this season
Chelsea have struggled at home in the Premier League thus far in 2019/20. Frank Lampard's men have played twice at Stamford Bridge so far, and been held to draws on both occasions: Against Leicester City FC (1-1) and Sheffield United FC (2-2).
History from the UEFA Youth League
Due to the transfer ban imposed on them, Chelsea have had to look to their academy for reinforcements this term. Three players have come up from the youth team in 2019/20 who played in the 2015/16 Youth League -in which Valencia CF were eliminated by Chelsea after a penalty was controversially considered to have not crossed the line. Striker Tammy Abraham (the Premier League's top scorer at the moment), Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori were all part of the squad that day.
National team colleagues head-to-head
Dani Parejo, Rodrigo Moreno and José Luis Gayà coincided with Kepa, Chelsea's goalkeeper, in the last round of international fixtures for Spain. The Valencia CF trio will now be looking to put the ball past the Chelsea stopper with their club.
