MATCH PREVIEW | VCF Mestalla looking for a win against Leicester City to change the dynamic
The reserve team faces its second match of the Premier League International Cup this Tuesday in England
VCF Mestalla were beaten 1-0 by UE Olot in a close contest this past Sunday. Coach Óscar Fernández spoke afterwards to give his thoughts on the contest.
His assessment
“I think the result is negative: Losing here, with that goal in which Alan Baró used his hands to control the ball. There is nothing left to do but to look forward. The team stood up to be counted, played well and had chances. Olot had some clear chances at the end when we were focused on their area. I think we played well against an UE Olot side that, like us, play well but lack effectiveness. What matters are the points, and we ended the game without points.”
The move for the goal
“It looks like handball. From the bench it is not clear, but on the video it does seem that he uses his hand. The referee says that it wasn’t handball, so nothing can be done about it.”
Happy with the effort
“I take away the feeling that the team tried, played and created. Today we did something difficult, which is take the ball away from UE Olot. We congratulate them on the victory, and in the two games that remain we have to approach things like we did today. We have the last game of the season at home on Saturday against AE Prat, and what we want is to end the campaign with a victory and provide the good feeling that we have shown all year -but also winning and taking the 3 points.”
