Spain aim to top Group A at the U21 EURO
Cristhian Mosquera, César Tárrega, Javi Guerra and Diego López target victory against Italy
Geoffrey Kondogbia, José Luis Gayà and Gonçalo Guedes have an enviable record against this week's opponents Deportivo Alavés in LaLiga competition, having always been on the winning end of the equation when the two sides have met in the top flight. On Friday they attempt to extend their perfect records against the Basque team and bring the three points back to Valencia.
Of the trio, Gayà is the player to have faced Alavés on the most occasions. He has beaten them in 4 out of 4 league matches, whilst Guedes is 2 from 2 against them and Kondogbia 2 from 2.
The game is set to be a tricky one, although Valencia CF carry momentum into the contest thanks to their win over Real Betis at Mestalla and have been training hard at the Ciudad Deportiva this week in preparation. They will be up against a team who have won their last two home games.
The three players have also met Alavés in other competitions, including a 2-1 defeat in the second leg of the 2017/18 Copa del Rey quarter finals. It was they who celebrated afterwards, however, as the tie went to penalty kicks and Valencia CF would win the shootout, progressing to the semifinals.
