Players show support for Piccini in win over Mallorca
The Valencia CF squad was rocked by the severe knee injury suffered by Cristiano Piccini this past week, and the wanted the Italian to be present in some way during their game against RC Mallorca. The players took to the pitch wearing shirts bearing the message "Ánimo Piccini" (Get well soon, Piccini) as a surprise for their comrade.
The defender is going through a tough time, having had surgery to treat the patella fracture and facing an extended spell on the sidelines, but is taking the setback philosophically. He posted a message on social media after the operation, with the phrase "God doesn't give a burden to someone who cannot carry it."
Teammates such as Rodrigo, Jaume Doménech, Denis Cheryshev, Eliaquim Mangala, Gabriel Paulista, Ferran Torres, Ezequiel Garay, Maxi Gómez, Rubén Sobrino, Jaume Costa and Álvaro Medrán all posted their support for their teammate, whilst other players such as Rodrigo Battaglia, Álex Martinez, Jorge Molina and Jeison Murillo echoed their sentiments.
