Torres returns to scene of first senior start
Ferran Torres is one of the younger members of a youthful Valencia CF squad, but has already picked up experience at some of the biggest grounds in Spanish football. The winger goes back to where he got his first senior league start this weekend, when the team play Athletic Club at San Mames.
The night of his debut in the first 11 was a special one for several reasons. It was a birthday of sorts (Torres was born on February 29th in a leap year, and so February 28th is the day for celebration in 'regular years'), and he was the first player from the 'Class of 2000' to feature from the start in a LaLiga match.
Of note was a great defensive performance from the Spain youth international, and an assist he provided for Geoffrey Kondogbia
Torres recently received an award from Fútbol Draft recognising him as one of the standout academy products in Spain, featuring in the 'Once de Oro' eleven for 2018/19. He is the third youngest to be given the prize this year, behind only Bryan Gil (Sevilla FC) and Eric García (Manchester City).
