Valencia CF will play Granada CF in the quarter final stage of the Copa del Rey, it was announced in the draw at the Ciudad de Fútbol de Las Rozas on Friday. Having eliminated UD Logroñés and Cultural Leonesa in the Round of 32 and Last 16, respectively, they now face their first LaLiga opposition of their cup defence.
This will be the eighth time that the two teams have met in the Copa del Rey, with VCF progressing on 6 of the previous 7 occasions. The most recent encounter was in Janauary 2016, in which Valencia CF won 4-0 in the first leg and 0-3 away from home, for an aggregate scoreline of 7-0.
Granada CF returned to LaLiga this season, and in the game between the teams earlier in the campaign, Valencia CF ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Daniel Wass and Ferran Torres.
The route to the quarter final for Granada has seen them beat CE l’Hospitalet, CF Badalona and CD Badajoz -with all three games going into extra time.
