Valencia CF players train together whilst apart
Unity remains important to the Valencia CF squad, despite the distance between the players due to the lockdown measures employed in Spain to combat the COVID-19 crisis. With the confinement period extended until at least April 26th, it is important for the players not to lose fitness or a sense of communal support.
The coaching staff have devised a schedule that keeps the players in contact with them and with each other, drawing on new technology. Fitness coaches, team doctors, nutritionists, psychologists and other members of the club communicate with the squad through platforms that allow for individual and group conversations.
Players have a personalised workplan for the lockdown period, but there are also sessions undertaken together -albeit congregating online rather than in person. This is done with the idea that football remains a team sport, and that team spirit is an important aspect for getting through a difficult situation.
