Valencia CF to play FC Cartagena on Saturday

Valencia CF will play their fourth preseason friendly this Saturday against FC Cartagena. The game will be played behind closed doors at the Antonio Puchades stadium, at the Ciudad Deportiva. Kickoff is set for 7pm CEST.
The two teams have met on numerous occasions throughout history, the first back in 1920, just one year after Valencia CF were founded. That friendly ended 0-1, with a goal by Eduardo Cubells. Since then, preseason fixtures between them are a regular occurrence, the most recent being a tribute game to Pedro Arango, who had played for both teams.
The last official encounter in the league was during Valencia CF’s year in the Segunda División, back in 1986/87.
The team from Murcia were recently promoted to the second tier again, and have several players with a history at VCF in their ranks: Nacho Gil has joined from SD Ponferradina, and players such as Sergio Ayala, Quim Araujo and Esteve Peña have turned out for Valencia CF youth teams.
Valencia CF remain undefeated in preseason, having beaten CD Castellón and Villarreal CF and drawn with Levante UD.
