MATCH PREVIEW | VCF Mestalla looking for a win against Leicester City to change the dynamic
The reserve team faces its second match of the Premier League International Cup this Tuesday in England
VCF Mestalla began preparations for the 2020/21 season on Monday morning, with the squad undertaking medicals at the Ciudad Deportiva. The customary tests allow the coaches to assess the players’ fitness levels before preseason gets underway.
A first group of 12 players arrived at the training ground from 8:30am, consisting of Marc Ferris, Xavi Estacio, Adriá Miquel ‘Miki’, David Castro, Adrián Gómez, Yunnus Musah, Carlos González, Nacho Muñoz, Pablo Jiménez, Jordi Escobar, Fran Navarro and José Contell.
On Tuesday, the second group of players will have their turn to undergo the tests. Fran Pérez, César Tárraga, Jesús Vázquez, David Ruiz, Iván Muñoz, Noha Ndombasi, José David Menargues, Carles Aliberch, Pedro Alemañ and Charli Pérez, coming up from the Juvenil A team, and Andrés Céspedes from the Juvenil B side, will all be looked at by the medical team.
The team, coached by Chema Sanz -who ended his temporary tenure as first team assistant on Sunday night- are having comprehensive examinations before they return to training on the pitch.
Blood tests, anthropometric studies, weight, muscle and bodyfat measurement, a complete physical, an injury pathology report, assessment of muscle mass and joint mobility and strength analysis were all performed, before a gym session to test vertical leap, speed, agility, balance and coordination.
