Corberán: "I saw a competitive team"

Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán talked to the press after the 1-1 draw with Villarreal CF at the Estadio de la Cerámica in LaLiga.

Moving out of the relegation zone

“We have a lot of work ahead of us and we have to keep doing it. I like the team's dynamic and I don't want us to take any steps backwards.”

This point in the season

“In the first few weeks I began to sense the desire to turn the situation around, the anger the players had at seeing where they were, the ability to assimilate the work to improve as a team and the desire to show commitment on a daily basis to go out and achieve the objective. The key is always to maintain that and fight hard. We also have to be strong in this marathon. The team are going to fight in every game. Today, I saw a competitive team.”

“To be a combative team, with chances to win in matches, we need all the players. Today, in general, I liked those who started and the contribution of those who came on from the bench. We need everyone at their best to achieve this.”

“It was very important to grow as a group and for all of us to feel the need for maximum performance and commitment. To be a competitive team, we need a large group. Whoever plays, the identity is not altered and the values have to be shown. A large, committed and dedicated group is needed to achieve results.”

“There have been more than 600 of our fans here. After that pain we felt against FC Barcelona, seeing that people continue to believe in us increases our responsibility to give them our best. Since I have arrived, we can only be grateful. They suffer when the team suffer and our way of showing gratitude is with that effort and that dedication on the pitch.”

“The team feels that they have been rewarded for not giving up at any point in the match, and that, despite the blow of having conceded a goal, they have not deviated from the plan. They continued to believe and to do things. That conviction and faith in what they were doing allowed us to get a valuable point.”
