Corberán: "WE WANTED TO ACHIEVE SOMETHING MORE"
The coach reviews the 3-3 draw with CA Osasuna
Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán appeared at a press conference after the 3-3 draw against CA Osasuna on LaLiga Matchday 26
Analysing the match
“On the one hand, when you are losing the game, drawing it gives you a point that I value because of the effort and dedication of the team. But, at the same time, I am dissatisfied -because at a ground like El Sadar, when you score three goals, but also concede three, there is not enough balance between attack and defence. The team did things in attack that I really liked, but we did not have the strength in defence that you need to have here.”
The final minutes
“The last few minutes were difficult because Osasuna defended with many players and that defensive density in a low block was not easy to overcome. We had a daring approach and I'm happy that the team's consistency was rewarded with the draw. But I am dissatisfied because we wanted to achieve something more in the match.”
Defensive work
“Nothing we did was improvised, even Fran Pérez's position was prepared. We made decisions that helped us to be more competitive in terms of attack and defence. I'm not satisfied with the defensive work in terms of our solidity. In the first half, for 25 minutes we were not up to the level required by a match like this.”
Mamardashvili
“I don't like to publicly evaluate individual performances. We compensate for any performances below the usual level of our players with a lot of work.”
Gayà's substitution
“It was an attacking idea, because we understood that Rioja on the left as a winger could help, and Fran on the right would have that profile as well.”
