In a Tuesday night game on LALIGA EA SPORTS Matchday 6, Valencia CF travelled to Vitoria to take on Deportivo Alavés. The match at Mendizorroza, ended with a 0-1 scoreline.

The big news in the starting lineup was the official first-team debut of Aaron Mayol for Valencia CF. The team started energetically, pressing high and threatening the opposition goal via a counter-attack led by Javi Guerra, though the Alaves defenders managed to cut the move out inside their own box. Guido followed up with a shot from outside the area, but his effort failed to hit the target.

Moments later, Valencia CF seemed to have taken the lead through a combination involving De Haas and Javi Guerra, finished perfectly by Danjuma; however, VAR intervened and disallowed the goal due to offside against the Dutch winger.

Valencia CF remained incisive and continued to create chances, though they were unable to find the back of the net. Deportivo Alavés began to respond to the attacks, but interim coach Óscar Sánchez’s men held firm in defence.

In first half stoppage time, Stole Dimitrievski had to pull off a brilliant save to keep out a shot from Ángel Pérez and prevent the opening goal for the hosts.

SECOND HALF

The restart of the match was marked by the pace and intensity of both teams. Ten minutes in, Deportivo Alavés -through former Valencia cf player Toni Martínez- created a dangerous opportunity with a shot from outside the box.

The match remained evenly balanced for the next few minutes, with Aaron Mayol heavily involved in midfield and an energetic Otorbi operating on the right flank.

The deadlock was broken by a brilliant piece of play from Javi Guerra, who set up Luis Rioja to put Valencia CF ahead (0-1). Immediately afterwards, however, the winger had to leave the pitch due to injury.

Valencia CF came very close to scoring the second with a counterattack by Javi Guerra, who passed to Otorbi, but the ball narrowly missed the right post.

In added time, Boyé headed towards goal for the hosts, but found Dimitrievski with a great stop. At the other end, Danjuma had a one-on-one denied by goalkeeper Sivera.

Next up for Valencia CF is a game this Sunday against Real Sociedad, as the team return to Mestalla on Matchday 7 of the top flight season.
