Mayol: "It's a shame that the goal didn't help to get the three points"

The VCF Academy product speaks after his first goal for the first team

Aaron Mayol spoke to VCF Media following the game against Real Sociedad, having scored the team's opening goal in a 2-3 defeat.

SMALL DETAILS

“The team really deserved more. We fought right up to the last minute. I think we were the better side for large stretches of the game, and we showed that. Ultimately, football comes down to details, and the game slipped away from us due to small details that we’ll keep working on, in order to turn this around.”

THE WAY FORWARD

“This is the way forward for us. I think Mestalla really liked the side of the team they saw today. If we keep on this path, we’ll definitely get through this.”

GIVING THE UTMOST EFFORT

“It’s what Mestalla was asking for; we’ve delivered that, and they acknowledged that. This is what the Valencianistas want, and we’re going to give it to them. We want to take as many points as possible and aim for higher things.”

HIS FIRST GOAL

“My first goal for Valencia CF was very special. It’s a shame it didn’t help us get the three points, but I’m going to keep contributing whatever I can for the team and the new coach. Whenever I’m needed, I’ll be available.”

DEDICATING THE GOAL

“I dedicated it to different people. I wasn’t entirely convinced I’d score, but things happen when you least expect them. I thought of them in that moment.”

ACHIEVING A DREAM

“I’m living in a dream. Reaching this moment is the dream of everyone who works here. I’ve achieved it, and from now on, it’s just a matter of continuing to build, keeping working, and looking ahead.”
