“Métele un gol a la pobreza” collects toy donations in Valencia
"Métele Un Gol A La Pobreza" ("Score A Goal Against Poverty") is a Christmas initiative that involves toys being collected for impoverished children, and is run by the Asociación Deporte por Educación Nazaret, Banco de Alimentos de Valencia foodbank, Asociación Mamás en Acción, Asociación Rimiñahui and Asociación AVEP organisations.
From December 14th-23rd, toys -either new or in good condition- can be deposited in the 'postbox' installed in the Nuevo Centro facility, complying with all sanitary measures in place.

The initiative has been running annually since December of 2005, and It has been 16 years of consistent support for those less fortunate at a difficult time. An average of around 20,000 toys are collected each Christmas.

The success is possible thanks to the collaboration of local citizens and the organising entities: The VCF Foundation, Instituto Valenciano de Pedagogía Creativa (IVAPEC), Nuevo Centro, El Corte Inglés and Aviprep. Also involved this year are Universidad Europea and Colevisa.

The presentation for the 2020 campaign was held on Monday and was attended by the president of Valencia CF, Anil Murthy, club ambassadors Miguel Tendillo and Miguel Ángel Bossio, Ivapec director Mar Sánchez, Nuevo Centro director Alfredo Tell and Pau Pérez Rico, regional director of Communication and Institutional Relations for El Corte Inglés.
