The Fórum Algirós is an initiative of the VCF Foundation that brings the Club’s history closer to all Valencianistas through its protagonists.
The Fórum Algirós is an initiative of the VCF Foundation that brings the Club’s history closer to all Valencianistas through its protagonists.
On a regular basis, the Foundation organises meetings linked to relevant milestones from the 107 years of existence, as well as to other topics related to sport and society in general. To date, 22 Fórums have been held:
Conexión Vintage: Kempes, on February 26, 2016 at the Centro Cultural Bancaja, with the participation of: the legendary players Kempes, Arias and Felman; and the journalists Paco Grande and Paco Lloret.
Bronco y Copero. 75 años de la primera Copa, on May 5, 2016 at the MuVIM, with the participation of: Pepe Vaello, distinguished Valencianista; Josep Bosch, historian; and the journalists José Ricardo March and Alfonso Gil.
In the 2nd Fórum Algirós, Valencia CF and the Foundation also wished to pay tribute to Josep Rodríguez Tortajada (1899-1982), Club president during the Civil War (1936-1939), through his adopted son Francesc Cueva, who was awarded the Club’s gold and diamond badge by Juan Cruz Sol, member of the Club Advisory Board.
Blanquinegre. A 90 minuts de la glòria, on October 4, 2016 in the interior square of Nuevo Centro, with the participation of: the great players Roberto Gil, Juan Cruz Sol and Miguel Tendillo, who recalled the titles won by the Club between 1941 and 1981; and the journalist Alfonso Gil.
Claramunt. 50 anys del debut d’un mite, on November 24, 2016 at the Cultural Sports Complex La Petxina of the Municipal Sports Foundation, with the participation of: the great Pepe Claramunt and his teammates Abelardo and Sergio Manzanera; and the journalists Alfredo Relaño and Paco Lloret.
L’equip elèctric. 75 anys de la primera Lliga, on February 16, 2017 in the VIP Box of Mestalla, with the participation of: the daughter of Mundo, Rosa Suárez; Rafael Bau, grandson of Rafael Bau García, board member of the era; and the journalists José Ricardo March and Alfonso Gil.
In the 5th Fórum Algirós, the Foundation announced it would request that Valencia CF officially recognise Rafael Bau García as president, a position he held from June 28, 1936 for 47 days. This recognition was officially confirmed in October 2017.
La huella de la memoria. Recuperando la historia del fútbol, on March 29 at the Lecture Hall of the Yellow Cube of the Polytechnic City of Innovation, Universitat Politècnica de València, with the participation of: Iñaki Mendoza, museum director and documentalist of Real Sociedad; Manuel Tomás, Documentation and Studies Centre of FC Barcelona; and Loles Ruiz, head of the Heritage Department · VCF Museum of the VCF Foundation; moderated by Salvador Muñoz, university professor, restorer of graphic and documentary works at the UPV Heritage Restoration Institute.
El orígens del futbol valencià. De Burjassot a València, on June 8, 2017 at the Lecture Hall of the Casa de la Cultura in Burjassot, with the participation of: Miquel Nadal, writer; David Montesinos, grandson of the legendary player Montes; Arturo Cervellera, researcher; and the journalist José Ricardo March.
La Copa de Fires. Cent anys de Fira València, on October 19, 2017 at Feria Valencia, with the participation of: Francisco García “Paquito” and José Martínez, former Valencia CF players; José del Olmo, head of Historical Documentation at IFFHS; and journalist Paco Lloret.
¡Gol en Valencia! Pioneers of sports journalism, on January 25, 2018 in the VIP Box of Mestalla, with the participation of Paco Nadal, José Ricardo March, Miquel Nadal and Alfonso Gil; where Jaime Hernández Perpiñá, 90 years old, dean and reference of Valencian sports journalism and key figure in promoting the Club’s history, was honoured.
És la nostra passió! Identidades y culturas futbolísticas, on February 22, 2018 in the VIP Box of Mestalla, with the participation of: Ramón Llopis-Goig, professor of Sociology at the Universitat de València; John Williams, associate professor of Sociology at the University of Leicester (UK); and journalist Alfonso Gil.
Va de bo GOL!, on June 13, 2018 at the Trinquet de Pelayo, with the participation of: Juan Cruz Sol, Pepe Claramunt and José Cerveró, former Valencia CF players linked to Valencian pilota; former pilota players Antonio Reig “Rovellet” and Alfredo Hernando “Fredi”; and Alberto Soldado, pilota chronicler.
Un equip pirotècnic. Falla i futbol al Cap y Casal, on November 15, 2018 at the “El Tio Pep” Faller Centre, with the participation of: Jesús Peris, Pedro Nebot, Luis Fernández, Merchina Peris and José Ricardo March.
Un abraç entre germans. El Valencia CF al México de Max Aub (1963-1966), on October 17, 2019 at the Biblioteca Valenciana Monestir de Sant Miquel dels Reis, with the participation of: Roberto Gil, Mª Teresa Álvarez Aub, Paco Lloret and José Ricardo March.
El primer Valencia CF. 100 anys del primer partit en Algirós, on December 4, 2019 in the VIP Box of Mestalla, with the participation of descendants of Montes, Piñol, Rino, Cubells, Cordellat and Peral.
De tot cor. Sempre en la nostra memòria, on March 18, 2021 in the VIP Box of Mestalla, with the participation of Ricardo Arias, Miguel Ángel Bossio, Miguel Tendillo and Fernando Giner. Fórum Algirós tribute to those who passed away in 2020 and early 2021, with special mention to Sol, Españeta and Vicent Cuxart.
La Lliga dels símbols. 50 anys del campionat de 1971, on April 15, 2021 on the pitch of Mestalla, with the participation of Pepe Claramunt, Enrique Claramunt, José Vicente Forment and Antonio M. Martínez “Antón”.
Roberto Gil. Tota una vida dedicada al Valencia CF, on July 6, 2021 at the Castell de Riba-roja del Túria, with the participation of Pepe Claramunt, Miguel Ángel Bossio, Miguel Tendillo, Merchina Peris and Roberto Gil himself.
La Lliga 2001-02. El començament d’una era, on November 18, 2021 in the VIP Box of Mestalla, with the participation of Ochotorena, Subirats, Angulo, Curro Torres, Djukic, Palop, Fabio Aurelio and Rafa Benítez.
Paterna, generadora de talent, on February 17 at the Estadi Antonio Puchades, with the participation of Voro, Angulo, Guillamón, Iranzo, Mosquera and Jiménez.
Mestalla, un segle de vivències, on May 11, 2023 in the VIP Box of Mestalla, with the participation of: Carlos Ochando, professor of Building Engineering at the UPV; Lola Pons, daughter of the stadium caretaker (1939-1971); Pepe Claramunt; and Salvador Gomar, former Club employee and son of the manager Salvador Gomar.
L’altres triplet, en la memòria de tots, on May 20, 2024, with the participation of: Rufete and Fran Pérez; Toni Almudever, well-known supporter whose embrace with Xisco at the Sánchez Pizjuán is an icon of Valencianismo; and José Manuel Segarra, journalist who covered those milestones.
